Prince Andrew stripped of Freedom of the City title in crunch vote.
The Duke of York has been stripped of the ambassadorial title in a ceremony.
Prince Andrew loses his Freedom of the city after he reached an out of court settlement with his sexual assault accuser Virginia Giuffre.
Prince Andrew was granted the honour in a grand ceremony shortly after he was wed to Sarah Ferguson in 1987.
Prince Andrew is the first person ever to have the Freedom of the City title removed.
"The removal of this honouary title sends the right message that we as a city stand with victims of abuse." Councillors said.
"The next logical step is now for Prince Andrew to do the right thing and relinquish his Duke of York title." they said.
The Duke of York paid off his accuser a sum of 12 million in an out of court settlement.
